The Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC) was incorporated in 1972 as a private, nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the clinical evaluation and improvement of health care in Arkansas and throughout the country. Over the past 39 years, we have developed strong partnerships with many influential stakeholders across the state and nation, from professional associations and community boards to government-appointed task forces. Today we work with a number of other agencies as well. One of AFMC’s primary responsibilities is serving Medicare as a Quality Improvement Organization (QIO).
AFMC is governed by a community-based board of directors that includes physicians and representatives from hospitals and other health care providers, businesses, and consumers across the state. Our staff consists of more than 140 professionals in clinical medicine, data management, epidemiology and statistics, quality improvement and communications. Our company’s corporate headquarters is in Little Rock, Ark., with a second office in Fort Smith, Ark.
AFMC is a member of the American Health Quality Association. Our employees maintain memberships in a number of professional associations, including the Medical Group Management Association, the Healthcare Financial Managers Association, the American College of Medical Practice Executives and the International Association of Business Communicators.
