Healthcare Improvement Coalition

AFMC works closely with Arkansas’ Healthcare Improvement Coalition to help improve quality of care and access to care in the state. Known as HIC, the Healthcare Improvement Coalition aims to:

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with state partners and key service organizations that represent seniors and underserved populations
  • Create a forum to identify and help solve problems concerning our state’s healthcare
  • Inform healthcare leaders about important initiatives from AFMC and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
  • Educate others about the mission and values of AFMC
Education

A primary focus of the HIC is to help consumers who are on Medicare understand their rights. The coalition also works to educate Arkansans about:

  • Services for Medicare patients who have Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia
  • Medicare fraud and abuse
  • Preventive healthcare
  • Various programs and services available in Arkansas
  • Extra help programs available through Social Security and Medicaid for those on Medicare
Collaboration

The HIC members explore wats to collaborate in getting important information distributed throughout the state. The various health organizations represented also share information with the group about initiatives and projects taking place and/or meetings and conferences coming up. Input is also obtained from the HIC members on publications or health issues facing Arkansans.

AFMC HIC members include: Sally Johnson, Manager of beneficiary relations; Danae Mazzanti, specialist, beneficiary relations; and Janna Williams, manager, communications. Click here to view a complete list of coalition members.

The coalition meets quarterly in Little Rock and was originally known as the Consumer Advisory Council, or CAC.
