Medicare

Under a contract with the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, AFMC is the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Arkansas. We are responsible for monitoring, evaluating and improving the health care provided to Arkansans who are on Medicare. We also provide information and educational outreach for Medicare beneficiaries. Medicaid

AFMC contracts with the state Department of Human Services, Division of Medical Services, to review and help improve the care furnished to Medicaid beneficiaries. These services include reviews for inpatient hospital stays, emergency room utilization, certain surgical procedures and organ transplants. Many other activities for Medicaid are conducted through our Medicaid Managed Care Services (MMCS) division, including management services in support of the ConnectCare and ARKids First programs.
