Data mining services
Data mining — uncovering hidden patterns in large amounts of data — requires the right blend of experience to extract, link and analyze raw data, detect patterns and convert the results into action. Our team brings together clinical, administrative and analytical expertise, and our skills and processes are finely honed through years of health care-specific experience.
Our data mining team offers:
- Experienced clinicians and statisticians. We have conducted more than 20 unique data mining projects for the Arkansas Medicaid program, and our staff stays up-to-date on the most advanced methodologies.
- Suggestions for quality improvement and cost containment. We can help identify trends and opportunities for positive change. And, should you choose to take our partnership to the next level, we offer outreach, education, utilization review and other services that can help you convert data to action.
- Experience with health claims data. We understand the strengths and limitations of health care data, as well as the various methodological approaches used to answer tough policy issues.
- Identification of high-cost patients with similar characteristics. We can help find “clusters” or subgroups of resource-intensive patients with similar characteristics for intervention to improve care coordination and control costs.
- Focused studies for quality or cost-containment into disease-specific conditions and medication use issues.
- Fraud and abuse detection in support of Arkansas Medicaid’s Field Audit program, which researches and initiates recoupment of possible fraudulent billing practices. We analyze areas of concern and profile procedure code billing patterns to estimate savings if providers’ billing patterns more closely matched normal distributions.
