Early and Periodic Screenings, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT)Keeping children healthy is key to our state’s future. One of the most valuable tools we have to ensure that children stay well is EPSDT. EPSDT, or Early and Periodic Screenings, Diagnosis and Treatment, helps children on Medicaid from birth to 20 years of age receive necessary health services, including preventive screenings. Medicaid and most other private insurance plans pay for screening and treatment of medical, dental, hearing, vision and other medically necessary health care needs. Many Arkansas health care providers are already doing their part to properly screen and immunize young patients. But there is still great room for improvement. That’s why Arkansas Medicaid and the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care are working together to offer new tools and resources to help improve screening rates. Physician offices across Arkansas can use these new tools, strategies and tactics to help streamline office practices. You may also be be eligible for bonus payments based on your EPSDT screening rates, under the Arkansas Physician Quality Incentive (PQI) program.
