Adult mental health first aid training helps individuals provide initial support to adults experiencing mental health challenges or crises until professional help is available. This will involve two hours of online pre-work, followed by a six-hour, in-person class. A virtual option is also available.

This course will teach you how to apply the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE): 

  • Assess for risk of suicide or harm.
  • Listen non-judgmentally.
  • Give reassurance and information.
  • Encourage appropriate professional help.
  • Encourage self-help and other support strategies.

AFMC offers this Mental Health First Aid course free of charge in White County. The course will be offered at the Jannett & Larry Crain Memorial Library (Searcy Public Library).
